Last night in Thailand, just before the border to Cambodia in Ban Laem. Awesome kind owners!
Way to fancy for us but the only option as it was already dark outside…

Indonesia (Kalimantan) January 2016 -February 2016
Our last night in Indonesia on Pulau Bintan.

As we were stuck on Siantan island due to strong winds this was our home for two weeks!

A short but beautiful stay with Leonie’s family in Pontianak.
Sometimes you have to improvise. No formal accomodation to be found and camping wasn’t the best option either as a big thunderstorm rolled in. So we slept in a church. Not too bad except for the mozzies.
Our warmest room in a homestay that also rents rooms per hour. We chose the whole night though and were not too pleased when the fan got switched off in the middle of the night. Oh well.
A quick found guesthouse in Entikong where we arrive after a friendly border crossing from Borneo, Malaysia.
Malaysia (Borneo) January 2016
Our wonderful couchsurfing host Syakirah gives us her flat for a few days as she leaves town and it’s awesome to have a whole flat to ourselves for a while. And even more awesome to have dinner when she comes back!
The first two nights in Kuching at Jewels of Borneo Hostel. After cycling 145km into Kuching we just need sleep and it’s wonderful here!
Awang and Juria kindly invite us into their home in Maludam and treat us to wonderful coffee, Pao and dinner.
Through friends of friends we stay in this room in Roban. A tiny town which no formal accommodation. A roof and water to wash, all we need!
The kind family of John lets us sleep for two days in their living room in Sibu and spoils us to no end!
A night in Selangau where we spontaneoulsy meet other cycle travellers over dinner.

Malaysia (Borneo) November 2015 – December 2015
With lots of discussion the owner of the Economy Hotel in Limbang gives us this room with a window and a fan. Previously al rooms with windows and fan (the cheaper ones) were booked…
In Lawas we find this lodging house (after some local advice and a guide).
So who would have thought, we take the train to Tenom again and surprise Barbara. And she insists on giving up her bed AGAIN!
Finally we cycl again and land in Beaufort. A town with a train connection to Tenom…
Our fanciest room so far – a bungalow near the beach in Kinarut is our christmas present for this year.
Two more nights in Kota Kinabalu and for the first time this trip we stay in a hostel dorm!
Through a warmshowers contact we end up staying two nights with Henny, Howard and Jonathan in Kota Kinabalu – incredibly nice people and awesome icecream makers!
Barbara lets us sleep in her own bed for more than a wek in Tenom and we almost didn’t leave!
The beds at the Sapulut church are just the best after a long hilly day.
In the middle of the jungle there is an Organic Farm and the very kind people let us stay and participate in their life.
The kind people at the Kalabakan Resthouse let us camp in their yard and make use of the toilet – thank you!
Bevor setting out towards the Kalabakan Road we stop for a night in Tawau Hills Park and camp on the soccer field.
When we get to Borneo, BMalaysia I feel properly sick so we end up staying almost two weeks in this lovely room.
Our spacious 6-person cabin on the PELNI boat Pare-Pare to Nunukan and we had it al to ourselves!

Finally we are in Maumere with Lia and her family and it’s just wonderful to be with them.

The little village of Moni is nice – even more without wanting to go to the Kelimutu Lakes.
And we take rest days again (Flores sure is exhausting) – this time at Hotel Ikhlas in Ende.

Shortly before dark after exactly 100km (our record so far) we arrive at this little hidden spot which is again right next to the beach.

In exchange for having a couple of beers and some food we’re allowed to camp right next to this pub and meet lots of motorcyclists. One of them invites us to stay with him in Brisbane!
A rest day in Booti Booti National Park right next to the beach…
Our tent on a national park campsite on Myall Lake which is a saltwater lake. Note that coffee with water from said lake does not taste good. At all.
Next night we arrive in Myall River Camp when it’s already dark.
Then we get invited by Maria and Graham who we just met on the road the day before and once again have an amazing bed!
On the second night we meet our wonderful warmshowers hosts Rod and Deb and enjoy their beautiful guest room with a view of the ocean…
First night on the road and we’re tenting in an old quarry. So here’s to our tent which easily fits all our gear!
